Group hang with crush, should I make a move?

Its a friend's birthday on Friday and I just found out that my crush is also going out for his birthday. We have been out with friends before and I have never known whether to make a move so have done nothing. he acts like he likes me, give me his jacket, gives me lots of attention, makes sure I get home ok etc. But even though I have known him for a while I don't hear from him alot and have never got a clear message from him to say whether he likes me or not. Last time we were out together, he had a nervous hum and it was slightly awkward. The last time we were out with a group of people, he took me home, hugged me and texted me for a few hours once he got home. All these mixed messages have got me nervous about seeing him again.
