Geiger counter survey meter victoreen 631?

I have a victoreen model 631 survey meter from the late 1950's. Looks like it will still work and in good condition but is missing the 1B85 geiger-muller probe which mounts inside the bottom plate.. There is also an external jack that allows for use of probe wand but I don't have that either. Just dusted this thing off after all this talk of fallout and might as well get it working if I can. Is there some sort of replacement probe I can buy or make? Also need two batteries, one eveready no.720, 1 1/2 volts and another eveready no.477, 67 1/2 volts. Is it worth trying to fix it.
