Can you get a verbal warning and a written warning at the same time?

i work in a school wear shop and on our contract we are told we cannot take any hoildays between july and august as it is our busys time . i have worked there for 5 years and this is the first year i have asked for the first two weeks in august as last year my husband had a stroke and we had to cancel our hoilday so this was the only dates i could get this year i know i should not have booked them but he needed this hoilday i am only partime and all i would be taking off is 7 days .after a lot of humming and harring they agreed on three conditions one i do not get any hoilday pay, but will not affect later hoildays then the bit that shocked me a verbal warning and a writen warning to me this seem very harsh are they right to do this and can two warning be given at the same time i have waorked all my life i am 55 and never had any before or even been sack please has anyone any answers
